How to Build a Verified Forex Track Record (Screenshots Don't Count)

Screenshots and edited statements prove nothing. Here is what actually makes a trading track record credible, what a reader should demand to see, and how to publish one automatically for free.

How to Build a Verified Forex Track Record (Screenshots Don't Count)

Everyone selling something in trading has a track record. Almost none of them have a verifiable one. The gap between those two things is where most people lose money, and it is worth understanding precisely — whether you are the one being asked to prove results, or the one deciding whether to believe them.

Why the usual "proof" proves nothing

Screenshots

An image of a terminal is an image. Editing a balance figure, a profit column or a percentage takes less than a minute with free software and leaves nothing for a reader to detect. Even an unedited screenshot is a single frozen moment: it cannot tell you what the account looked like a week later, and it cannot show the trades that were scrolled out of frame.

MT4 and MT5 statement exports

A saved HTML or PDF statement feels more official, which is exactly what makes it more dangerous. It is a local file the account owner generated, and every value in it is plain text that can be changed in any editor. There is no signature, no server-side copy, nothing to check it against.

Spreadsheets and journals

A manually maintained journal is a useful trading tool and worthless as proof. The person keeping it decides what goes in. Losing trades that were "not part of the system" quietly do not get logged, and the record drifts toward the story the author wants to tell — often without any conscious dishonesty at all.

Selective periods

The most common form of dishonesty is not fabrication, it is cropping. Show four good months from a two-year account and every number is technically true. This is why an unbroken record from account inception matters more than any headline return.

The test for any evidence is simple: could the person showing it to me have changed the numbers, and could they have chosen which numbers to show? If the answer to either is yes, it is a claim, not proof.

What a credible track record must show

ItemWhy it matters
Account type: Real, Demo or ContestDemo fills are frictionless and often unrealistically good. A record that does not state its account type is hiding the single most important variable.
Broker and server nameExecution quality, spreads and swaps differ enormously. The same strategy can be profitable at one broker and negative at another.
Account currency and leverageLeverage tells you how much rope the strategy has. A 30 percent return at 1:500 and at 1:30 are completely different achievements.
Complete history from account inceptionPrevents cropping. If the record starts mid-way, ask what happened before it.
No gaps in the trade listMissing days or missing tickets usually mean deleted losers or a second, hidden account doing the risky trading.
Maximum drawdown, in money and percentReturn without drawdown is meaningless. Drawdown is the number that tells you whether you could have held the position.
Open positions, or an honest statement that they are hiddenClosed-trade profit looks perfect if you never close losers. Floating loss is where blown accounts hide before they blow.
Automatic, live updatingA page that updates itself cannot be curated after a bad week. This is the difference between evidence and a brochure.
Trade-level detailSymbol, direction, size, entry, exit and time let a reader spot martingale, grid recovery or a single lucky trade carrying the entire curve.

How automatic publishing works

The mechanism that makes a record credible is that the trader is not in the loop. In CopyConnectFX Verified Results, a Publisher EA runs inside your MetaTrader terminal, reads the account's history and open positions directly, and sends them to your public page on a schedule. Nothing passes through a spreadsheet, and nothing waits for your approval.

Two design details matter for trust. First, the Publisher EA is strictly read-only — it never places, closes or modifies a trade, which is why it is safe to run on a funded or prop-firm account, and why it does not need your investor password. Second, every statistic on the page is recomputed from the raw trade list rather than stored separately, so the headline numbers always reconcile with the trades shown underneath them. A reader can add up the history and get the same answer.

The page also carries the context a sceptic needs — account type, broker, server, currency and leverage — while your account number and personal identity are never displayed. The whole thing is free, with no ads and no upsells sitting next to your equity curve.

Publishing honestly without publishing everything

Transparency does not require handing over your edge. Sensible controls let you protect the strategy while keeping the record honest:

  • Publish delay — hold updates by a chosen number of minutes so nobody can front-run or copy your live entries.
  • Hide open positions — show the closed record while keeping current exposure private.
  • Symbol, magic number and start-date filters — publish one strategy from an account that runs several.

The line to hold is this: filtering by strategy is legitimate, filtering by outcome is not. If a filter exists to exclude losing trades, the record has stopped being a record.

How long before a track record means something

This is where most people, including honest ones, overstate their case. Three weeks of profit proves essentially nothing. A strategy that risks large size on a mean-reverting idea can go months without a serious loss and then give it all back in a day. The events that define an account — the losing streak, the gap over a weekend, the news candle — are rare by definition, so a short sample is systematically flattering.

You can check most of this on your own history in a couple of minutes: export the report and run it through the free statement analyzer, which shows trade count, maximum drawdown, longest losing streak and whether a single trade is carrying the curve.

Judge a record on substance rather than the calendar. How many trades, not how many days. Has it traded through a genuinely bad stretch, or only a favourable regime? Is the maximum drawdown large enough to look real, or suspiciously smooth? Does one outsized trade account for most of the profit? Are lot sizes stable, or do they balloon after losses in the pattern typical of martingale recovery?

The useful reframe is that a track record is not a certificate you earn once. It is a live process that either keeps holding up or stops. Which is exactly why it should publish itself, continuously, without you touching it.

Start one today

The single best moment to begin a verified record is before you need it, because the value comes from length and continuity. Set it up now and in six months you will have something a screenshot could never buy.

  1. Create a free account.
  2. Install the Publisher EA on the terminal running the account.
  3. On MT4, set the Account History tab to All History first — MT4 only exposes the period currently selected, so anything narrower publishes a truncated record. MT5 is not affected.
  4. Pick your public link and publish.

The Get Started guide covers every step, and Verified Results stays free.

Frequently asked questions

How do I prove my forex trading results are real?

Publish a live, automatically updated results page that is fed directly from your MetaTrader terminal, showing account type, broker, server, leverage and the complete unbroken trade history. Screenshots, PDFs and spreadsheets prove nothing because anyone can edit them, and a static export cannot show what happened after it was created.

Why do screenshots not count as verification?

A screenshot is an image, and images are trivially edited — changing a balance figure in a screenshot takes under a minute and leaves no trace. It is also a single frozen moment, so it cannot show whether the account survived the next week or whether ninety losing trades were cropped out of the frame.

How long does a track record need to be before it means anything?

A few weeks of results proves very little, because drawdown, losing streaks and behaviour in bad conditions are exactly what short samples hide. Judge a record on the number and variety of trades and whether it has been through a genuinely bad stretch, not on the calendar length alone.

Can I publish a verified track record for free?

Yes. CopyConnectFX Verified Results is completely free with no ads and no upsells, and connects through a read-only Publisher EA that never places, closes or modifies a trade, so no investor password is required. You can create a free account and have a live public page running in about ten minutes.
